Wood holds on for BMW PGA glory
Chris Wood claims BMW PGA Championship on home soil at Wentworth
Chris Wood landed the biggest title of his career following a narrow one-shot victory at the BMW PGA Championship.
Starting the day three shots off the pace, Wood, 28, stormed into a commanding lead when racing to the turn in 29 shots.
Despite stumbling home with bogeys at 10, 14, 16 and 17, the giant Englishman went on to card a round of 69 to finish 9-under and wrap up his third European Tour title.
The victory moves Wood into the top 25 in the world rankings and top five in the Race to Dubai standings.
"This is without doubt the biggest title of my career, I've always wanted to win one of these BMW events," said Wood.
"To win here with my fiancé, family and friends here is just amazing."
