Casey, who continued his impressive form by going on to collect a tie for third on 11-under, made a par at the 10th before going on to eagle the par-5 11th and making birdie at the short par-4 12th.

It later emerged that the Englishman and his caddie Johnny 'Long Socks' McLaren had been looking at the pin positions being used for the Puerto Rico Open, a tournament running alongside the WGC-Mexico Championship on the PGA Tour.

It wasn’t until the duo stepped to the par-3 13th tee that they realised something was wrong as the pin position was radically different to what appeared in real time.

According to Casey, his caddie had copied the day’s pin locations - which can be found for players and caddies on a special website - for the Puerto Rico Open.

Casey finished the week in a tie for third, but 10 strokes behind runaway winner Dustin Johnson.
