Golf social media sensation Paige Spiranac is closing in on a major career milestone, but will she actually get it done before the end of the season?

Spiranac, 31, took to X / Twitter to inform her followers she currently has an impressive handicap index of +3.9

That was as of 10 October 2024.

Paige is now hoping she can push it over the edge to an official +4 handicap before the year draws to a close.

To put Spiranac's achievement into perspective, Rory McIlroy was a +6 handicap when he turned professional.

Tiger Woods was +8 when he was 20.

Current runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler recently admitted during a PGA Tour press conference that he typically plays off a +7 handicap when playing against locals at his home club in Texas.

Record 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus was +4 when he turned pro in 1961.

According to the Ladies European Tour, two-time winner Esther Henseleit has the lowest ever recorded ladies golf handicap in Europe of +7.1 before she turned pro in 2019.

LPGA Tour legend Annika Sorenstam was reportedly +3 when she turned pro in 1992.

'Do you think I can get to a +4 with only a couple more rounds before this golf season comes to a close?' posted Spiranac.

In one response to Spiranac's post, a fan commented: 'The best recorded handicap ever for a pro female golfer was Esther Henseleit, and it was a +7.1. Why aren't you tearing up the LPGA?'

Spiranac replied: 'I’m a mental head case and can’t handle pressure. I crumble and get the yips off the tee lol'

Paige did once attempt to crack the LPGA Tour.

That came in August 2016 when she competed in her first LPGA Qualifying Tournament but she did not manage to earn her card.

She also played in a number of Ladies European Tour events, and she made the cut in the Scottish Open in 2016.

But Spiranac decided to call time on pursuing a professional career and entered the world of golf social media and YouTube instead.

She's done a great job, too.

As it stands, Spiranac has 4m followers on Instagram, which is 500,000 more than Tiger Woods and 1m more than Rory McIlroy

Paige recently set up a new Passes account, where she posts the majority of her latest content.

In June 2022, Spiranac was named 'Sexiest Woman Alive' in Maxim's 2022 Hot 100 list, the first athlete to attain the No.1 spot.

Earlier this season, Spiranac competed in the inaugural Creator Classic in association with the PGA Tour.

She shot 2-over par and finished in the middle of the field.
