A lady golfer has told 7NEWS that she was banned from competing in her latest competition at Mount Martha Public Golf Course because of the colour of her hair that had been dyed to support her friend with cancer.
Angie Waters, 52, had dyed her hair and worn brighly coloured socks for her friend Nat who had just gone through her latest bout of chemotherapy.
A stoush has erupted on the quiet fairways of a Mount Martha golf course after a woman claims she was banned because of her unusual dress sense. https://t.co/5zYfOfohG3 @TomChadwick_7 #7NEWS pic.twitter.com/h1kvyoaYev

"The president actually touched my hair and said 'what is this... this is not our club Angie," she told 7NEWS.
According to the report, she was banned from competing in the ladies competition because of the way she appeared heading to the first tee.
In the eyes of Mrs Waters, she just wanted people "to be aware that cancer stinks."

The lady was told she was no longer welcome to play golf at the club or be in the clubhouse as she goes about serving her ban.
Mount Martha Public Golf Course is based in the Mornington Peninsula, Australia.
According to its website, the course has a "family, friendly atmosphere" and invites "social groups, the beginner, the pro and everyone in between to make the most of affordable green fees and season memberships."
They might just want to think about re-wording that slightly following Angie's ban from the golf club.
