First Look: Callaway X2 Hot & X2 Hot Pro
The X Hot family just got twice as hot!
CALLAWAY has today unveiled its groundbreaking X2 Hot and X2 Hot Pro range of clubs for 2014 which include key introductions in driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons categories.
All X2 Hot and X2 Hot Pro products will be available worldwide from January 17. The launch of the new X2 Hot family coincides nicely next to the recent launch of the Callaway Apex irons.
“With the X2 Hot line, we challenged ourselves to reinvent each product to meaningfully improve distance, speed and forgiveness across every category,” said Dr. Alan Hocknell, Senior Vice President, R&D, Callaway Golf.
“We worked hard for every extra gram of discretionary weight, every thousandth of an inch of metal, to increase ball speed and overall distance while improving total performance, especially on off-centre impact.”
X2 Hot Irons
Callaway set the distance standard in irons last year with the X Hot - it was so hot that it triumphed in our 2013 Game Improvement Irons Test - and the brand says the bar has been raised even higher for 2014 with the introduction of the X2 Hot irons.
The irons offer, yes you guessed it, more forgiveness, more ball speed and more distance.
A massive undercut channel increases the rate at which the face flexes and rebounds for more ball speed and distance, which Callaway claims makes these new irons three to five yards longer than the X Hot iron.
Other improvements include a maximum perimeter weighting that increases the sweetspot and makes it even easier to hit than the X Hot iron. It also produces higher launch angles for more distance and extra stopping power on the greens.
High MOI along with a repositioned centre of gravity and improved turf interaction have helped improve the downrange consistency by as much as 40%, easily making these the most accurate long distance irons Callaway has ever designed.
Standard steel shaft: True Temper Speed Step 85. Standard graphite shaft is a lighter-weight offering than has been offered before.
RRP £599 (steel), £699 (graphite)
