PGA Tour pro Chris Kirk has revealed he will be taking an "indefinite leave" from competition in order to deal with alcohol abuse and depression.
Kirk, 34, has won four times on the PGA Tour but his recent form has been woeful with just one top-40 finish (T15) all season coming at Bay Hill in March.
The American, who has a wife and three kids, took to Twitter to share a statement about beginning "a new and better chapter in my life."
Tomorrow I will celebrate my 34th birthday but I have already begun a new and better chapter in my life. Thank you to my friends and family for being there for me. pic.twitter.com/XJjFYyojlh
