Rory McIlroy gets off to SHOCKING start at The Masters
McIlroy has it all to do after disappointing opening round at Augusta National
Rory McIlroy slumped to a disappointing 3-over 75 in the first round of The Masters, all-but ending his chances of completing the career Grand Slam this Sunday.
McIlroy, who just needs to win a Green Jacket to join golf's elusive group of players to win all four major championships, returned to complete his first round on Friday after darkness halted play on Thursday evening.

The former World No.1 was level-par after his opening nine holes, but then returned on Friday with a run of three bogeys in the space of five holes to fall well out of contention.
McIlroy attempted to cut the corner at the par-5 13th but hit a big hook into the trees and was forced to take a penalty stroke en route to making a bogey-six.
He enjoyed better fortunes on the next par-5 at 15 when finding the green in two shots for a birdie, but then threw that back with a bogey after finding the water with his tee shot at the par-3 16th.

McIlroy, who is now back out on the course to play his second round on Friday afternoon, now not only finds himself 10 strokes off the pace after 18 hole but has it all to do just to make the halfway cut which counts the top 50 and ties after 36 holes.
