U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge: Prize purse, winner's share
This is how much they are playing for at the U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge.
The U.S Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge boasts the biggest prize purse in women's history at $10million.
That is in large part sponsor ProMedica. That means the winner will take home $1.8million. The runner up? A cool $1million and change.
Even the players who missed the 36-hole cut will receive a stipend of $8,000.
There were a number of cool and sad story lines that developed in North Carolina this year.
We had the return of Nelly Korda after she underwent surgery to treat a blood clot.
Michelle Wie West revealed that she will only play one more golf tournament, next year's U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach.
Then the pro who turned professional as a teenager will bid farewell to the game. Will it be forever? Only she knows.
We also had the return of Annika Sorenstam, who played in her first major since 2008. Sadly, both Sorenstam and Wie West missed the cut.
