Carlota Ciganda DQ'd from Evian Championship after REFUSING slow-play penalty!
Carlota Ciganda was docked two strokes for slow play, but she was having none of it!
Carlota Ciganda was disqualified from the Evian Championship on the LPGA Tour on Friday after refusing to accept a two-stroke slow penalty.
Ciganda, 33, lost her slow-penalty appeal that was incurred on her final hole (9th) and she then refused to sign her scorecard leading to her DQ.
She carded a 1-over 72 in the second round. The two-stroke penalty would have moved Ciganda to 6-over par and outside of the cut line at 4-over par.
Two years ago, Ciganda won a match but then lost it as a result of slow play!
The latest rules incident comes less than a week after a Tour pro was caught cheating on the final hole of a PGA Tour Canada event.

An LPGA spokesperson confirmed Ciganda's group were timed when they reached the 8th hole, and it was on the next hole where Ciganda was deemed to have continued to have taken too long to play before finishing her round.
"Ciganda was allowed an appeal with the advance and lead rules officials before returning her scorecard, which was heard and denied," the spokesperson said in a statement, according to Golf Digest.
"Therefore, a two-stroke penalty was upheld. Ciganda opted not to add the two-stroke penalty to her signed scorecard.
"She was told that leaving the official recording area with a signed score lower [without the penalty strokes] would lead to disqualification, and left on her own accord."
After three rounds of the Evian Championship, a major in France, home favourite Celine Boutier takes a three-stroke lead heading into the final round.
