Bryson DeChambeau on LIV Golf event: "Atmosphere upwards of like a Ryder Cup"
Bryson DeChambeau made a bold claim about this week's LIV Golf event.
Safe to say Bryson DeChambeau is enjoying this week's LIV Golf event at Real Club Valderrama in Spain.
The 29-year-old shot up the leaderboard on Saturday with an 8-under 63 as he looks for his first LIV Golf win.
Speaking to reporters after his low second round, DeChambeau was quick to applaud the atmosphere at this week's tournament.
One reporter initially referred to the major winner as a "fan-favourite."
And while DeChambeau was hesitant to agree, he did acknowledge the atmosphere at the tournament.
"I don't know about that. I think the Fireballs are," he said. "But certainly it was nice for them to show a lot of appreciation towards me, and it was fun hitting some bombs for them, and still, hey, on a tight golf course I'm playing pretty good, so give them a good show.
DeChambeau also spoke about the LIV Golf 'vision' after his round.
"Everybody's vision out here is to make golf a more enjoyable experience, have that shorter condensed time frame where people can go back home and have dinner, whatever, and not spend all day out here and they can see their favorite players," he said.
DeChambeau also compared the atmosphere to a Ryder Cup, too.
DeChambeau has played in two Ryder Cups (2018, 2020) and one Presidents Cup (2019).
He could be a potential pick for the Americans in the upcoming Ryder Cup in September at Marco Simone in Italy, but whether or not LIV Golf players can and will be picked is still up-in-air.
