Ian Poulter: "It's a shame some golf fans can't handle a few beers"
Poulter FUMING with minority of fans over abuse at The Players Championship...
Ian Poulter took to social media to vent his anger at a number of rowdy golf fans who failed to control their behaviour at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass last week.
Poulter found himself in contention after the opening two days play but went on to finish tied 56th on Sunday.
The Englishman was frustrated by a minority of spectators who shouted out during his third round where he shot a 75.
"Really feel sad for my kids who had to walk around today listening to fans who were non stop verbally abusing today," wrote Poulter. "Real shame in this day an age we still have a few idiots that can't handle a couple of beers."
He continued: "It wouldn't happen at Augusta. Sad when your playing partner apologizes about the fans..."
Poulter has found himself on the winning side in five of his six career Ryder Cup appearances for Europe.
His last PGA Tour title came at the Houston Open some 12 months ago.
Poulter has dramatically improved his form in recent years, progressing to a current World No.32 spot following four consecutive top-six finishes last month.
