TaylorMade Qi35 Fairway Wood Key Features:

  • Multi-material construction featuring chromium carbon, steel, and aluminium
  • Modified CG locations for improved energy transfer
  • New TSS weighting system has been integrated in all lofts, allowing for precise swing weight adjustment

TaylorMade's fairway woods were the most used on the PGA Tour in 2024. The Qi10 core, in particular, was a massive hit on Tour, notching up numerous wins with contracted stars like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

What was most intriguing about it though was that it was also a huge hit with a number of non-contracted players, including Adam Scott, Max Homa, and Hideki Matsuyama.

That is the sign of a seriously good golf club.

With that in mind, it's safe to say the Qi35 has some rather big boots to fill.

With a new optimised CG projection, a high MOI design and a number of tried and tested features including Twist Face,Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, and an Infinity Carbon Crown, this new wood is geared for continued success.

To see how it performed, myself and Alex Lodge, took it out on the course before putting it through its paces at Custom Golf Works with a GC Quad launch monitor.

Let's get into it.

Player Level

The Qi35 is a fairway wood that can be used by almost anyone. As proven by it popularity on Tour, it's a fantastic weapon for the best players in the world, but could just as easily be wilded by your average hacker. One thing I will say though, is if you are a high handicapper or someone who generally struggles with woods, the Qi35 Max may be better suited.

TaylorMade Qi35 Looks and Feel

If you've read my review of the Qi35 driver you will know I was a huge fan of the simple style offered by Qi10, and Qi35 has gone in completely the opposite direction.

The woods are very modern, quite loud, and a big departure from the classic gloss crown that made me fall in love with Qi10.

Now I don't think these clubs are ugly by any stretch, but the dark grey carbon finish is just not quite for me.

The sole, looks fantastic, the dynamic lines, green accents and gloss finish look superb, for me it's just the light grey crown that doesn't quite look right.

Throw into the mix the additional detailing around the perimeter, and I think it's been a bit of a step back in terms of pure visuals for TaylorMade this year.

Feel on the other hand is once again top notch. TaylorMade in my books make the best feeling woods, and that rich tradition has continued into 2025.

There is a real flash off the face from centred strikes which feels great through the hands, and out of the toe or heel there is a good level of feedback which is always good to see.

TaylorMade Qi35 Performance and Forgiveness

Picking up where the Qi10 left off, the Qi35 is another standout performer from TaylorMade.

Whichever metric you look at, this club has it covered. Speed, tick. Spin, tick. workability, tick.

During testing with this club, both myself and Alex hit some seriously good shots, making par fives look like child's play.

I have often struggled to find a wood that I can really depend on, but the Qi35 is as reliable as they come.

Off the tee this club delivers a penetrating ball flight, while still benefiting from high enough launch to get the ball to land soft when struck from the fairway.

In terms of turf interaction, the sole does a good job of sliding effortlessly over the turf while being able to bruise it on exit from well compressed shots.

TaylorMade has modified the Cg location in the Qi35 range as well, which delivered really impressive ball speed numbers.

Throughout testing, the Qi35 averaged roughly 8 additional yards of carry distance compared to the max, and while it is less forgiving than its larger brother, that additional speed will undoubtedly appeal to better players for whom every yard counts.

I was very impressed with the Qi35 during testing, and TaylorMade has done another fantastic job of creating a fairway wood, that I think will be a firm favourite with a number of major winners in 2025.

Should you buy the TaylorMade Qi35 Fairway Wood

The Qi35 is another fantastic offering from TaylorMade and would make an exceptional long game option for almost any golfer.

Is it a huge upgrade on the Qi10? No, so if you have one of those keep it. If you are well overdue an upgrade in the wood department, though, I would highly recommend going and getting fitted for a Qi35. It's versatile, very easy to hit and packs one hell of a punch.
