As golf has evolved, the lines between streetwear and traditional golf wear have becomes increasingly blurred.

Hoodies are now a mainstay on fairways around the world, and that same relaxation of what can and can't be worn has also trickled down to golf shoes.

It's that trickling down that is the inspiration behind ECCO's brand new crossover shoe that in our eyes is one of the finest executions of a golf shoe that could just as easily be worn on a night out with friends of a meal with the family.

The ECCO Street 720 as you can probably pick up from the name, is inspired by streetwear fashion, but it's also packed full of tech designed to deliver peak performance on the course too.

Featuring a premium leather construction, a healthy level of traction, and a GORE-TEX surround, these shoes certainly look the part, and have gone straight into our best golf shoes buyer guide.

Well to find out, we took them for a round at Effingham Golf Club to find out.

Let's get into it.

ECCO Street 720 Looks

If you're a fan of streetwear shoes from brands such as Axel Arigato or Arne, then these shoes will really suit your eye.

The silhouette is clearly fashion inspired, and we have to hand it to ECCO, the brand's designers have got it spot on.

From the paneling to the discreet perforations, these shoes ooze class, and thanks to the premium leather construction they feel as luxury as they look.

ECCO branding is kept very discreet with a small E placed near the heel, allowing the clean lines and supple leather to do most of the talking.

The sole is chunky, and also features holes along the bottom, which not only add visual appeal, but also improve airflow through to your feet in order for them to stay fresh when you walk 18 holes.

Sometimes simple designs are best, and that's certainly the case with the Street 720s. The clean all white upper is really fresh, and also makes the shoes incredibly easy to style with a wide variety of different outfits.

From a purely aesthetic perspective we think ECCO has absolutely nailed it with these shoes.

When we think of other golf shoes that are ideal for off course wear, the adidas Samba comes to mind as well as the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low, but personally we think these ECCOs have them both pipped.

The big question now is, how did they perform out on the course?

ECCO Street 720 Performance and Comfort

The first thing we noticed about these shoes is how solid and stable they are. The construction is really premium, and even when you hold them in your hands and try and twist them, there is very little give.

This was a very promising sign, and once we got them out on course, that same level of stability remained consistent throughout the golf swing.

Having confidence that your feet aren't going to twist and slide too much when swinging is absolutely paramount, and we were very steady footed in the 720s.

The insole and midsole also deliver plenty of cushioning, and we found there was just enough bounce to keep our feet from feeling fatigued during the round.

From a space perspective, there is ample room in the toe box, and the heel offers plenty of width, while still providing a good amount of cushioning to prevent any unwanted rubbing.

Although we didn't test these shoes in the wet, the addition of a GORE-TEX surround is a welcome feature, which promises to keep your feet dry form the elements. Although we probably wouldn't plan to wear these shoes during wet winter rounds, it's good to know you're protected if the weather does turn.

As you can see from the picture above, the sole of the shoes are covered in a number of traction elements, which deliver multi directional grip.

We were testing on dry ground during our round, but we didn't experience any level of slipping and we felt fully grounded during every swing.

We've been so impressed by these shoes that they have actually become our go to pair for summer golf, or what's left of it.

If you're a golfer who likes to be able to head straight from the course to the pub, then you will struggle to find a pair of golf shoes better suited than the Street 720s.

Offering timeless style, premium construction, and the performance and comfort to match, we honestly couldn't recommend these shoes highly enough.
