What in the world is Rory McIlroy using on the range at the BMW PGA?
Rory McIlroy was using some rather unusual training aids on the range at Wentworth ahead of the BMW PGA Championship.
After heartbreak in Northern Ireland at the Irish Open last week, Rory McIlroy is looking to bounce back at the BMW PGA Championship.
McIlroy, 35, came agonisingly close to winning his home Open at Royal County Down, narrowly losing out to Rasmus Hojgaard.
Looking to make up for the disappointment, McIlroy has already been spotted tinkering on the range at Wentworth with some rather unusual-looking training aids.
Images circulated yesterday of McIlroy warming up, which immediately piqued our attention.
So, what was the four-time major champion using, and what are they for?
Take a look at the images below
So, McIlroy was using two different training aids on the range. We will start with the one attached to his left hand and worn over his glove.
The gadget is called a G Snap, and it was created by radical golf coach George Gankas.
The G Snap is designed to be worn over the glove of your leading hand to eliminate cupping of the lead wrist and promote flexion instead.
According to Gankas' website the G Snap achieves the following:
The GSnap is face control: which equals less curve, more distance, better contact, better start lines, all benefitting in... better golf.
So, how does it work?
Well, once setup with a normal grip, when you take your backswing, the contraption will snap once when flexion is created in the backswing, and it will snap once more on your follow through to indicate that flexion has been retained through the follow through and the club has been released properly.
No snap equals no flexion.

The G Snap costs $58.50 and is available to purchase at gankassports.com
The second training aid McIlroy was using is called a The Connector.
So what is The Connector? It's a foam wedge that is designed to improve all areas of your game by promoting better body-arm synchronisation for improved consistency and power in the golf swing.
The foam ball also features three bars, two of which are designed to hold the connector in place, while the third that pokes out the front allows you to ensure that you are lined up correctly to the ball.
The connector allows golfers to better understand how the body and arms should work together, delivering instant feedback on every swing.
The aid is designed to improve ball striking, and generate good feel with all of your clubs before you play golf.
The Connector retails at $141 and is available to purchase now on Amazon.
