Constructed from anti-pick, anti-pill fabric, this Under Armour hoodie is incredibly soft, very stretchy, and suitably striking, courtesy of the Under Armour branding across the shoulder.
The material is also highly breathable and does a fantastic job of wicking sweat away from high-friction areas, ensuring you can remain cool and comfortable on the course.
The Playoff hoodie also comes in a wide variety of colours, making it easy to match up with a wide variety of trousers and shorts.
While we love almost everything about this hoodie, we're not massive fans of the single button on the collar, which in our eyes just looks a little out of place.

While we love this hoodie, we would highly recommend sizing up when buying one, as it does run at least a size small.

This hoodie is a perfect example of how Peter Millar combines traditional designs and brings them up to date for modern performance. While the hoodie is a relatively new addition to the golfing wardrobe, the Pine Performance is probably the most formal option on this list.
Constructed from soft fabric with a jersey front and micro-waffle back, this hoodie is exceptionally comfortable and performs just as well as it looks.

Benefitting from four way stretch and moisture wicking technology, this hoodie is an excellent performer that also looks the part.
If understated branding is your cup of tea, this hoodie will certainly appeal. FootJoy has opted for discreet FJ branding on the left hem, which is a shrewd decision in our opinion.

The fabric is very stretchy and we found it offered plenty of space in all the right areas, allowing us to swing freely without any bunching or catching in awkward areas.

Thanks to its water repellent properties, it's an excellent companion for summer rounds when the weather might turn on a dime.
While the functionality of this hoodie is top notch, the visuals are arguably even more impressive. The all over Penguin print is stunning and the rubber badge on the left chest adds another lovely touch to the overall design.

Things to consider when buying a mid-layer
Material
Different materials offer different characteristics, so it's key to consider what your hoodie is made of when you make a purchase.
Most modern garments are made primarily from polyester, but cotton and wool do still have their place in the market. Polyester is our favoured material due to its stretch, moisture-wicking properties, and breathability. The synthetic material is also straightforward to care for and will hold its shape and colour incredibly well.
Cotton and wool both deliver perhaps a more traditional feel and look, but don't provide the same level of versatility and functionality as polyester, elastane or a variety of other modern synthetics. Typically also more expensive, the natural materials also tend to lose their shape and colour more quickly.
Functionality
The hoodie category is quite a broad one, and different styles and designs will favour certain conditions and environments, so the functionality of the garment is vital to consider.
If you regularly play in a cooler climate where wind and rain play a big factor, selecting a hoodie that's water-resistant and well-insulated should be your main priority.
