Part of Motocaddy's award-winning M-Series, the M1 DHC is the base model. It offers downhill control, a nine-speed setting, an LCD screen, and a simple compact folding system.

The trolley features a whole host of features, including all terrain DHC wheels, a USB charging port, adjustable distance control and so much more.

To fully assess the M1 DHC and all its capabilities, we took it our for a round at Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate.

Let's get into it.

Any good trolley needs to be compact and easily transportable, and thankfully the M1 DHC is just that.

Thanks to the compact folding system and invertible wheels, the trolley is not only compact enough to fit in any boot, but it's also very quick to assemble.

Once you've lifted it out of the boot, it takes no more than three minutes to fold it out, clip in the battery and you are on your way.

Another great feature that Motocaddy offers is the EASILOCK base, which is compatible with any Motocaddy bag, allowing you to pin the bag in, negating the need for a bottom strap, and preventing the bag from twisting during the round.

One of our pet peeves when using a trolley is when the bag rolls onto its side, but thankfully EASILOCK has that particular issue taken care of.

In terms of aesthetics, the M1 DHC is is good looking without being head turning. The black, grey and red colour palette goes well with almost any bag, which is a big plus, and the sleek frame and solid base give it a distinctly quality feel, which was another box ticked.

The handle is also very sturdy and it's also adjustable, which means golfers of any height can quickly and easily adjust it to their preferred position.

The speed dial is nicely presented on the centre of the console, with a single wheel that can be pressed in, allowing you to stop and start the trolley or change speed with a quick roll.

The rubber handles are also nice and sturdy, and in terms of pure ergonomics, the handle is well crafted so that changing speed can easily be done with the tip of your thumb without having to take your hand off the handle.

So, out on to the course we went, and starting the M1 couldn't be easier, as mentioned previously, a simple press of the silver dial will have your trolley moving along nicely, and when you want to stop it, the same motion is all that is required.

Once out on the course, the M1 is a smooth cruiser, and thanks to the downhill control, you don't even have to worry about your trolley running away from you, as the motor will hold the trolley at an even pace, ensuring you don't have to go chasing a rogue trolley down the path.

Controlling the direction of the trolley is as simple as a slight adjustment to the handles, and be it firm fairways or thicker rough, the M1 DHC is capable of tackling almost any terrain with ease.

When we did finally come to a stop, the electronic parking break also came in very handy, preventing the trolley from rolling Down any sever slopes while we were distracted by our next potential three putt.

The M1 DHC also has a neat feature that allows you to pre programme the trolley to travel a selected distance in front of you in 15 yard increments before stopping, which allows you to let go and rest easy that the trolley will stop by the tee instead of wandering off into the nearest lake.

In all honesty, we didn't use this feature a great deal, but it's a great option to have.

While the M1 DHC may lack the bells and whistles of its older brother the M7 GPS, it's absolutely mustard at doing what it says on the tin, getting your clubs from A to B as easily and stress free as possible.

We recently tested the Motocaddy SE electric trolley, which is relatively similar in design to the M!, however it doesn't have DHC control and a speedometer. With the additions of those two pieces of tech, the M1 DHC elevates itself to be in our eyes one of the best and simplest to use trolleys on the market in 2024.

The M1 DHC isn't flash, but it's robust, durable, easy to use and compact, making it an excellent on course companion for those who simply want to take the stress out of carrying, or pushing a trolley.

Another feature we love on the M1 DHC is that you don't need to remove the battery in order to charge it.

The lightweight Lithium battery can be charged while still connected to the trolley, making it impossible to ever leave the house without it.

It's also worth mentioning that the battery is also dust and waterproof, so you don't need to worry about getting caught in a downpour while you're out on the course.

Should you buy a Motocaddy M1 DHC?

If you're looking to purchase an electric trolley that's dependable, easy to use and offers enough features to make life easy but not too many to break the bank, then the M1 DHC is the one for you.

Coming in at £699.99 this is by no means a cheap purchase, but it certainly won't be one you will regret.

Using a good electric trolley removes a great deal of stress from any round of golf, and the M1 DHC is without a doubt one of the best in the business.
