Ernie Els signs new footwear deal with PUMA Golf
The Big Easy joins Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau and Lexi Thompson at PUMA Golf.
PUMA Golf has signed four-time major champion Ernie Els to a multi-year agreement as a global brand ambassador.
Els, 49, will now wear the brand's footwear during all of his professional events.
The man nicknamed around as 'The Big Easy' brings his major winning credentials to a star-studded PUMA stable that includes fellow Tour professionals Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau, Gary Woodland and Lexi Thompson.
Els, who will skipper the International Presidents Cup side later this season, will wear PUMA’s IGNITE PWRADAPT and NXT golf shoes while on the PGA Tour, starting at this week's RBC Heritage at Harbour Town.
"I’m excited about this new relationship with PUMA," said Els.
"I’ve been wearing their golf shoes since the start of the year and honestly I feel like it’s really been a factor in me catching some form of late.
"I just feel more grounded with these shoes, like it’s giving me a firmer foundation in my swing.
"What I also like is the shoe combines stability with lightness and comfort. That’s a tough trick to pull off, but the guys at PUMA have nailed it. I’m very happy to be part of the team."
Els will become eligible to play on the PGA Champions Tour should he wish when he turns 50 on October 17 this year.
