Thompson's 28-under-par total that week marked the tournament's lowest 72-hole score, surpassing Michael Kim's 27-under-par in 2018.
Before joining the PGA Tour, Thompson won on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022.
That win helped him earned his PGA Tour card for the 2023 season.
